bugs be gone

So today we had some guy come and spray our house for bugs because we have been experiencing an intrusion of ginormous spiders, and im not even exaggerating. there was one night where we were watching tv and dekel saw one in the kitchen out of the corner of his eye and went to spray it and kill it and he wouldnt even let me see its size because he knew i wouldnt sleep at night if i knew how big it was. and its almost worse that he left it to my imagination, but i know it must have been beyond big.

so we left the house for a couple of hours and went to visit his grandmother near haifa, in a little city called Kiryat Atta. It just made me miss my grandparents even more, but she is so sweet and its always cute to see how he is with her. he always pulls out a stool and sits next to her and holds her hand. we had lunch over there of schnitzel and pasta and salad. im suprised i had an appetite because i have been experiencing a non-stop headache for like 2 days, and its been so awful! but now were home and just relaxing. the house feels clean and everything is back in place and i can walk around barefoot without peeping around each corner of every room to check for spiders first. i was paranoid!

we went grocery shopping 2 days ago and got a great red wine; i think it will be a movie and wine night. we downloaded Inception, which im sure is old news to everyone in the states- but it just came out here and ive heard it was intriguing.

also got ingredients to bake chocolate chip cookies so im going to whip some up =)

pcb's and popcorn

that's whats on my mind.

i have began a new position within Flextronics, i am now the project manager for one of our american clients called BigBand Networks. and let me tell you, i am so busy that i am dreaming of work while i sleep! how/ when to go to production. if i am meeting deadlines. writing e-mails and having conference calls. double checking the quality team so that everything is running smoothly. overloaded- but in a good way.

i just got home and it seems to be that my new obsession is popcorn. im loving it right now. i mean ive always loved it, but everyday afterwork im coming home and making popcorn and loving it.

anyways, dekel and i had a cute date yesterday. straight from work we went to "Cafe Joe's" for an early dinner, i had margarita pizza and he had a toasted sandwich with mushrooms, egg and cheese. and then we walked around a nearby city, called afula, and found somewhere to buy popsicles. yummy! it is so hot here. this weekend in eilat it is supposed to get to 47 degrees celcuis, thats like 116 farenheit!!!

so, that means beach this weekend. im there every weekend, soaking up the sun, loving it. the water is the perfect temp- it could almost be a little colder and still be nice.

we planned on a poker night tonight, but no one is interested. we played last weekend at dekel's sister's husband's parents house and i won 80 shekels, that's like 20 bucks!...and i never win :) so i was all about playing again this weekend, but it seems we will just go out to a pub instead. fine by me. im liking beer more and more these days. i rarely order cocktails anymore. israeli's in my opinion just are not as diverse in the alcohol dept. seriously- the most popular drinks are beer (carlsberg, heineken, goldstar or stella) and this licourish flavored vodka that they mix with grapefruit juice. EWWWWWWWWWW! it's sick. i've ordered the occasionaol apple martini but then find it too sweet because im drinking beer so often.

anyways, rambling about drinks........i wonder what's going on in dallas this weekend????

new and improved

I recently gave my blog a makeover and in turn, it feels like I gave myself one as well!

This blog really is a part of me. It has been a way for me to communicate some of my "overseas" experiences with friends and family for obvious reasons. And now, I would like to redirect this blog to be more socially acceptable and inspirational. I hope to create posts that spark enthusiasm and happiness, and not just blab about my personal life, dramas all the time. So, bare with me while these changes occur and I experiment with my writing/ blogging style. I have changed my header at least 3 times already and found out how to create a 3-columb blog, which I am loving so much more than the original template- thank you marli

seeing red

Recovering from the flu; was home sick Mon, Tues & Wed from work. yuck!

But here's a story for ya:

So on Wednesday I was feeling better and was gaining my strength back and decided to shower, reasonable right? I felt so gross from being bedridden and just was craving a hot shower!! So I turn on the hot water heater (you have to do that here in Israel) and I needed to wait like 30 minutes, so I'm watching Oprah and then Ellen comes on and I ALWAYS watch Ellen, but the shower was more important at this point, so I head to the bathtub...in our bathroom we have a shower and bathtub with like a water handle thing so you can shower in there too. I always use the bathtub because its more spacious and open and whatever. But there's this little step in the bathtub and since we moved in in March we've been talking about putting something down on the floor of the bathtub because its REALLY slippery, but just haven't gotten around to buying anything for it! (maybe you can see where this story is going..ha) So, I'm smiling, like singing to myself because the Ellen song came on and I'm stepping in the bathtub and like literally 5 seconds upon entering, after turning the hot water on, I step on that damn step in the bathtub and fall so awkwardly on my face. On my nose to be exact. Like on the back part of the bathtub. I got up all discombobulated and disoriented and turned the water off and realized that blood was gushing down my body from my face and stepped out and couldn't feel my nose. To say the least I was FREAKING OUT. freaking out! The pain set in and I was screaming and crying running around the house (I was home alone- Dekel went to get his hair cut) I grabbed a towel and just held it to my face, scared to examine what was underneath- I thought I broke my nose, you guys. I pick up the phone trembling trying frantically to find his number which took like an hour it felt like, I call Dekel and he calms me down saying he will rush home, but he told me to just sit down and stuff some toilet paper up there to soak blood. He was a medic in the army so he knows what to do and is calm in these situations, unlike me. So, I'm sitting, sobbing, on the couch, shaking, still thinking I broke my nose because I couldn't feel it or move it and my face was just in pain and I'm just trying to rethink how the hell this happened and how badly I just wanted to shower. Now sitting there nasty and bloody. He arrived like 20 minutes later and cleaned me up and told me it was definitely not broken. (thankgoodness!) So, that's my story- I can't tell you all in person so I hope you can hear me telling this story. I'm laughing about it now, but it hurt soooo bad! I was a sad story.

Anyways, it's the weekend! I wanna know whats going on in your lives!! What are you doing this weekend in America???
