bartering

i posted here that i needed a haircut & i was not kidding, my hair is OOC (out of control!)
so my hairdresser girlfriend katelin suggested we trade a haircut & color for a few sour melan earrings from our new druzy stone collection, seen here & here. deal!

i created 8 unique, one-of-a-kind pairs of earrings for her and on saturday i'm gettin' my hair did!

SHE is my hairspiration, for color.
i think i will leave my long length.. :)

love/hate relationship

as much as i am hating this almost-unbearable cold weather we are experiencing in dallas, i am loving the layering & accessorizing that comes along with it.

i am into anything & everything that involves peace signs, evil eyes, skulls & feathers right now.

1. peace sweater- $36
2. sunnies- $38
3. evil eye scarf- $145
4. gray jeans- $15
5. fringe booties- $160
6-8. bracelets from brandymelville

hairspiration

i've been struggling to find pretty & un-boring ways to put my hair up since i work at starbucks and we have to keep it up & since my hair is almost to my butt...it proves to be a challenge on the daily.

i find myself doing a ponytail or a bun about 90% of the time, but im so over those hairstyles.
braided updos are my new fav & i keep finding inspirational photos that i will try to replicate.

how do you wear your hair?

i blinked

it's seriously like i blinked & *POOF* it's already november.
so much has happened in these last few months, since i last posted.
good stuff, great stuff even, i just never found made time to write about it or post pictures.
bad, bad blogger.

welp, as i wrote about here, my sister & i opened an etsy shop & have had 90 sales in about 100 days.
not too shabby.
as my friend marli says..."i ain't mad 'actcha."

we hope to eventually get into boutiques around the dallas area (even outside of!), but this feat will take some time and patience.

in the meantime, i have been to dc, new orleans (again) & houston for "something wicked," a halloween music festival. dc was with my mom & sister. our mom had a conference in alexandria, virginia so we tagged along and then when it was over we all headed over to dc to explore the city for a few days by bike. great girls trip!

here are some photos from our trip, if you would like to see:
(sorry some of the photos are kind of fuzzy, some are from my camera & some are from my iphone)

the subway looked like the batcave!!!
gorgeous day in alexandria, virginia #nofilter
we got to know this map REAL well
 us on our city bikes
at the lincoln memorial with the washington monument in the background
we went flea marketing...
we had to stop by baked & wired to see what the fuss was about (the line was redic!), plus it was recommended by a friend. it did not disappoint...think GIANT ice cream sandwiches.
 surf & turf meal
in the heart of chinatown, dc
 yeah...if only...
we visited the holocaust museum, which touched me all over again.
i had been once before, but it hits hard every time.
we rode our bikes all the way up capitol hill just to dine at ted's bulletin so we could have their famous homemade poptarts for dessert, again, a recommendation from a friend, & it was SO worth it!

my new orleans trip was with my sister and my dad, who flew in from israel for the north american spine society meeting. mirelle & i just wanted to spend a few extra days with him in nola before he came to spend his last few days in dallas before flying back to israel. we prob wont see him again until may..

houston was my most recent trip & i went with my hubbie, sister & her boyfriend. we had purchased tickets to "something wicked" months ago, when dekel & i first got to the states, and i'm so glad we did! the show was amazing, TIESTO was amazing & we had the best time roadtrippin, dancing & dressing up. it was really entertaining to see all the people dressed up

on our way!
@ chili's in our sour mini headbands

dek made this disgusting gash-looking thing that he stuck to his cheek so it looked like the side of his face was exposed, it was really realistic and gross, but i would kiss him no matter what! :)
my "marley" outfit, made by me :)
 the concert was a blast!
 love
some fun alice in wonderland characters we ran into
we wanted our outfits to be similar, but not identical.
i think we nailed it.
loved it.

till next time!

the sour melan starts!

my sister & i have some big news!
we are starting a company called "the sour melan," pronounced just like melon.
"melan" is a combination of our nicknames: mel & yan, which we thought was cute & the "sour" part in the company name comes from the fact that we are unique and unlike anyone else & there's nothing like a sour melan!

we have opened an etsy shop, found HERE & we are currently taking custom orders for flower headbands & also jeweled bras & festival/ rave attire. we think the flower headbands are such a fun accessory for everyday wear & we love switchin 'em up & getting creative with them. new fall styles will be coming to our etsy soon!

we had our first photoshoot for the etsy shop at an abandoned railroad track here in dallas, it was about 105 degrees outside, even though we tried to beat the heat & got there at 9 AM, but we had so much fun with it & went to brunch at coffee house cafe right after where we made best friends with our 60-year-old waitress, who loved our halos and showed us off to the entire wait staff at the restaurant. she even brought the manager over to introduce us as "the pretty girls who are starting their own company," which felt empowering to hear.

anyways, hope you guys like our products & our photos! :)

which headband is your favorite??

the dallas star (a personal favorite of mine!!)
