bangs and things

i took a day off work and treated myself to sleeping in till 10, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and a well deserved much needed cut and color at a ritzy hair salon in a village called Tivon. i was skeptical about chopping off my locks, as most women are, but i left feeling like a million bucks and even though it cost $100, you can not put a price on happiness and healthy hair. anyone agree?

i am obsessed. more than obsessed! i wake up in the middle of the night craving the sourness of this grapefruit juice. does this happen to anyone else?? orange juice, im sorry. it's over.
before cut & color - side bangs and dirty blondish natural hair
during
after- new bangs and much lighter, much brigher me

Dekel and I have GMAT class tomorrow morning. womp womp. We are packing in so much studying during the week/ weekends, but there is always time for photos....

@ the University of Haifa -- i thought this staircase made for a cool photo setting

Awkward & Awesome Saturday

I'm a huge fan of Sydney's blog over @ The Daybook & she has asked her readers to provide an "Awkward & Awesome Thursday" post....but for me it's an "Awkward & Awesome Saturday" post! =)
Enjoy!

Awkward:
- When you are at a meal with the boyfriends entire family and you begin to choke in the middle of his dad telling a story and you are trying to play it off like you are not choking, but you must reach halfway across the table for the water and with shakey hands try to fill your glass and you can barely see from your eyes tearing up. Not that that happens to me...
-  When you are speaking Hebrew and you mix up words that sound very, very similar but have no similarity in meaning or context to what you are saying and everyone you are talking to bursts out laughing because you either A. insulted someone or B. made an ass out of yourself
- When you are walking toward someone in the hall at work and as you get closer you both move to the left, and then to the right, and then to the left again trying to avoid running into each other but you end up "dancing" and you have to sort of laugh and smile and play it off but you are both thinking of how weird that just was
- When boyfriend is giving you a relaxing massage after a long, hot shower and he is sitting on the back of your legs working your lower back when, out of nowhere, he pulls out the hair that accumulated in your butt crack from your shower and he is "jokingly" disgusted. This happens to everyone, right???
- Never, and I mean ever, getting the punch line of jokes. Always having to have someone explain it to me and then I'm the last one laughing, running with excitement to the joke-teller so claim that it was the funniest thing and the whole joke scene was over like 10 minutes ago
- Being incapable of memorizing my ID or cell phone number by heart and when it's asked of me at stores, work, by coworkers, etc having to be like "Ummmm, just a sec...*dig through my black-hole-of-a-purse to find it*"

Awesome:
- Sleeping in till 2 PM today!!! I swear I was a bear in my past life....
- The amazing shrimp pasta with seasoned mustard sauce I whipped up for lunch yesterday, I never knew I had it in me to cook
- Getting compliments from strangers at work
- Boyfriend calling me his angel, it's the sweetest nickname someone could give
- Taking on an additional project/ client at work, they must really believe in me, and that's awesome
- Having a grapefruit tree 5 feet away from my kitchen so I can pick 'em and squeeze fresh juice every morning, day and night

I would love to hear your Awkward & Awesomes!!

Miyan

My name in Hebrew means "a natural spring of water." We visited a "me" last night in clebration of Dekel's 25th birthday. We traveled to "Hamat Gader," near the Kinneret, and relaxed in some natural hot springs. It's a cute little place where you can get massages, visit an alligator park, swim and lay in jacuzzi baths or release tension by standing under falls of steaming hot water. Despite the unexpected crowd of people, it was pretty romantic. The water in the hot springs is about 115 degrees F and its recommended to only be in the water 15 minutes at a time. After about 25 I got light headed and needed to step out to take a breather. The weather outside was pretty cold, so we brought robes to wear and walk around in. We enjoyed each others company and worked up an appetite...

Hamat Gader
my smart ass did not bring sandals and the water on the ground was freezing, hence my lifting of the toes?
 sexy birthday boy
after enjoying the hot springs for about two hours we went to a fine steak house called Marinado near the Kinneret. beer, wine and fresh red grapefruit juice were what we were craving
we played hangman while waiting on our order. dekel's word was "steak," but spelled "stake." ugh he's so cute!!!
dekel ordered pork chops, his fav.
 best. steak. ever.
the picture speaks for itself. hot, gooey molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream....
uh yeah.....i was about this close to licking the plates. dekel stopped me.
the steak house had a wine filling station; a bottle for $8...yes please!
he's been working out. and likes to dress as a gladiator. has anyone else seen these hilarious aprons? this is the second time i'm seeing them in israel and they crack me up every time!

my weekend in photos

a small bouquet of flowers we bought from some students who were raising money for the theatre program at their school
batch of giant chocolate chip cookies i baked this afternoon
some recent purchases from pull & bear and zara
a super comfy grey tunic, lightweight and flowy. i have worn it two days in a row (shhhh) it's super great with my dark skinnies from pull & bear, seen here, or tucked in to a high waisted khaki skirt. love it!
this thing is perfection. its structured and cinched in at the waist, can be belted or not, i love options =)  i plan on wearing it with tights and boots to work and in the spring with flats and a cute headband. and yes, i am already looking so forward to warmer weather. so over winter. best part is that it was on sale from $50 to $20!!!
pretty seafoam green patterened scarf. it seems that whenever i buy a new outfit, a scarf seems to make its way into my purchases......
