Happy birthday to me
Dekel took me to an amazing restaurant in Ramat Yishay, called Limousine. I ordered a 200 gram filet steak with mashed potatos and salad. We split a bottle of sweet white wine and I was definetly woozie by the time we walked outta there.
Love to all my friends & family for wishing me happy birthay! I love and miss each and every one of you.

little by little
since dekel & I moved into our apartment in April, we have slowly but surely been making changes and improvements. for example, we put in place wall-to-wall carpet in the bedroom- because in Israel carpet is hard to come across and its just way more comfortable than cold tile- and i've been collecting vanilla, rose and lavender scented candles for our coffee table, kitchen and bedroom to make our home feel warm & smell amzing and we recently just put up a shelf in the kitchen and i picked some vibrant colored flowers & set them up there in a recently purchased vase, along with wine corks that i am collecting. it gives our kitchen a country feel and i like it =)
here's a peek at what we worked on today:
one of our bedroom walls before...
i found these cute, colorful hangers at a local shop and thought they would be perfect for displaying my necklaces...
after...
and i found somewhere to hang my poster...

aimlessly wandering
went on a mission to find some unique pieces of jewelry at the market in nazareth today and came up short. ended up only with a jade colored arabic designed poster for our home and a scarf that i was forced to buy to cover my shoulders because dekel & I found a church and wanted to explore inside. but it was a great excuse to add a beautiful scarf to my collection! now just need to find my poster the right place...

A Piece of Milk
Gush Halav. Where we hiked this past Saturday, and the name of the place literally translates in English to "A Piece of Milk." Don't ask me why, but it is an Arab Christian village in the Northern District in Israel and it was very beautiful.
We hiked with Dekels friend, Elad, and his girlfriend, Michelle- who are hiking pros. He is a hiking tour guide here in Israel for tourists, school groups, etc- and he studied the history of Israel for a couple of years and knows all the right places to go and how to go about them. Dekel and I came prepared with 3 liters of water, toilet paper, snacks and a camera.
We all stopped at a local bakery that morning to buy pita with za'atar (an Israeli spice) and then at a grocery store for cream cheese and hummus and chips.
We began our hike around 10 and stopped near a herd of cows/ horses for eat a bite and have some sweet tea. Then continued on. It was not the most beautiful hike due to the dry, sweltering hot summer we have had, but it was so nice to be out in nature and get a good work out. At one point we were literally scaling a mountain and I wore Nike running shoes...slipping and sliding all over the place.
We ended our hike around 3 and drove to a Miyan (a natural spring of water), it was like a little water hole in the middle of nowhere, and Elad and Michelle hopped in to cool off but I chose to lay out and tan and Dekel was just ready to eat. So we went to a middle eastern restaurant and ordered hummus with lamb meat and they served tons of little salad plates, like salsa, eggplant, spicy salad, oilves, pickles...and we had fresh lemonade to wash it down.
It was a nice ending to our weekend. Hiking is such a great release of energy. Seeing as I dont work out, I feel like I especially appreciate our hiking trips. I will randomly just take off sprinting down the path or up the mountain, or choose to turn the iPod off to take in the nature sounds. In other words, I love hiking.

bugs be gone
So today we had some guy come and spray our house for bugs because we have been experiencing an intrusion of ginormous spiders, and im not even exaggerating. there was one night where we were watching tv and dekel saw one in the kitchen out of the corner of his eye and went to spray it and kill it and he wouldnt even let me see its size because he knew i wouldnt sleep at night if i knew how big it was. and its almost worse that he left it to my imagination, but i know it must have been beyond big.
so we left the house for a couple of hours and went to visit his grandmother near haifa, in a little city called Kiryat Atta. It just made me miss my grandparents even more, but she is so sweet and its always cute to see how he is with her. he always pulls out a stool and sits next to her and holds her hand. we had lunch over there of schnitzel and pasta and salad. im suprised i had an appetite because i have been experiencing a non-stop headache for like 2 days, and its been so awful! but now were home and just relaxing. the house feels clean and everything is back in place and i can walk around barefoot without peeping around each corner of every room to check for spiders first. i was paranoid!
we went grocery shopping 2 days ago and got a great red wine; i think it will be a movie and wine night. we downloaded Inception, which im sure is old news to everyone in the states- but it just came out here and ive heard it was intriguing.
also got ingredients to bake chocolate chip cookies so im going to whip some up =)
